So I have some mixed feelings about the Melee Conduct Rule. For the record, the current rule is:
Why can't I pause one second between swings, and strike at the same spot I had just hit? If an enemy is consistently leaving a certain part of their body open to attack, and I'm ensuring that I'm not machine gunning, why is attacking the same spot illegal? Now I can understand encouraging players to hit multiple places on their opponent when engaging in melee combat, as this implicitly prevents machine gunning while still allowing for fast-paced combat. It's the lack of agency in determining how one can engage in combat that makes me wonder what problem this rule is trying to solve that simply waiting one second between swings doesn't solve? Not to say I want all combat to require a 1 second pause between swings, or a "your arm must bend 90 degrees before your next attack" shenanigans. I'm definitely a supporter of being able to quickly hit players in multiple parts of their body legally. But I don't understand the reasoning behind completely disallowing iterative attacks to a particular spot. I know I've encountered fights where, fighting defensively, all I've wanted to do is hit them in the leg, or right on their shoulder. As long as I don't machine-gun, why is this a problem?
tl;dr: I like the idea of encouraging people to hit multiple parts of the body, but don't understand why attacking the same spot repeatedly if I'm not machine-gunning is illegal.
The Melee Conduct Rule
After successfully striking an opponent, you must attempt to hit a different location upon said opponent with your next attack against them. (i.e after hitting someone in their left arm, if you wish to continue to fight them you must make the attempt to hit them anywhere else before attacking their left arm again) if someone strikes you repeatedly in the same area you do not need to take their effects or damage, simply call Clarify:Melee Conduct
