Hey everyone!
We're going to be reviewing our Culture Packets this winter to try and unify their formatting a bit better, add timelines where there are none, and make sure any key information hasn't been left out.
That means this is a great opportunity to ask us questions that you've been wondering about any or all of our Cultures! From integral philosophical and bureaucratic structures to mundane everyday details, hit us with your best shot. It can be a specific thing about a particular culture, or a general question for every culture that you don't think we put enough focus on when deciding what to write about. We'll try to answer as many questions as we can.
The only stipulation is that if it runs too close to an ongoing plot, we may have to limit or straight up FOIG you so as not to undermine the Timeblock system. But that will probably only happen if your question is VERY ambitious, or tied directly to ancient Galdria, because we're also not great fans of FOIG and believe that you should have access to enough cultural knowledge to even remotely represent having lived in this world for like 20+ years. So have at it!

Oooooo I’m super glad for this, because I had some questions pertaining to my next character concept.
Which/what countries have port towns and where are they located?
Does Rukazen have a difficult time with export due to limited accessibility by Water?
How much do the different countries rely on magic v tech in regards to export?
Are there major trade routes?
Is piracy an ongoing problem? If so, are there any factions or do most ships operate independently?

Delo, I'm curious, where would you expect to find this information/where do you think this information would be most helpful? That is to say, if we split that information up among the most relevant culture packets, do you think that would be helpful? I'm wondering because at least some of the information you're looking for exists(though probably not to the extent and/or detail you're looking for), and I'm just wondering if we might have also failed to present the information we have in a helpful way. That being said, your questions are good ones that we've only partially answered, so I'm not at all trying to say that we've entirely covered this ground already.

The Unions of Valicia and more about them. What sorts of things do you think would be useful to know about them?

Unions:
Names of the different Unions. What and who they represent. The power they hold. Prominent members. Customs and practices.
My current understanding of them is that they are somewhere between political parties and organised crime.

Unions: Names of the different Unions. What and who they represent. The power they hold. Prominent members. Customs and practices. My current understanding of them is that they are somewhere between political parties and organised crime. Cool, we can definitely do that. They're really more like labor unions/political parties, so each represents the interest of certain types of workers, but currently they're also effectively the political base for Valicia; the Valician government is made up of federal coalitions of different Unions. Basically, almost everyone in Valician joins up with a local chapter of their a Union that is associated with the kind of work and politics that fit them. The union members vote on local leadership; the local then votes on higher level issues and picks higher level representatives, who vote on higher level issues and higher level reps, and so on, until you get to the actual central government level. However, like any influential group, some of them use their power and authority for less than savory purposes, but that isn't the ideal that's supposed to be followed by any stretch.

In particular, I would be very happy to see names of at least one settlement in each region and 2-3 factoids about them, including the current ruler. In particular, for Marten it would be useful to have more information about Kalavria and the Krishklund. Knowing the chain of command or aristocratic positions in Thran would also be useful.

What are the active agreements between each country and the expedition? Who is in charge of the Expedition for each country? Anything about the former Expedition would be helpful and interesting. What is public knowledge about Galdria? What institutions were there? What are the stylings of Galdria, for prop purposes?

I note a number of (if not all of) the characters from Valicia have a background were they came from an orphanage. With that statistic, I feel like it might give more color to Valicia if some of the orphanages had recognized names and descriptions.
Hahaha, instead of asking what city you're from it would be what boarding house you grew up in!
