Hello all!
While I was not one of the ones who brought this up, nor am I qualified at all for Military drilling and planning, I was hoping to start the conversation back up of better defending ourselves under attack and duress.
We all have something to offer this grand endeavor, skills ranging from Thaumaturgy, to Engineering, to Alchemy, and a host of others! Let us use this as a start so that we might be more mindful of how to defend ourselves in an organized fashion, and defeat any and all Separatists or anything that comes to us with dangerous intent!
When we better know each other we can better understand on the battlefield how to act around one another, and hopefully find more success!
As always I defer to the more Military trained such as Araris and Dr. Osmund, but all with input are obviously welcome. I shall start!
I am an inexperienced Lancer who practices Thaumaturgy dealing with the physical world and fighting my opponents. If you are able to keep me up and defend me with shield or covering fire, I will always be able to crush or pierce any enemy in front of me!

Rashaad,
This might also be a prime opportunity for some discussion on strategies that work well, and those that don't. For instance, in my experience it is worth while to carry both a firearm, regardless of one's other skills; they are good for harassing mages and clerics, as well as disrupting armor repair or first aid attempts by your enemy. I would also suggest that it is often a good idea to spread your numbers some; as Araris could tell you, a decade ago Thran lost a series of skirmishes because their old fashioned shield lines made easy targets for bombs and rockets. I would wonder what observations all of you have made when it comes to approaching modern combat?
Sincerely, Mayor Benjamin Harker

Good day to you all, My name is Dr. Osmand Sterm. I'm a formally trained Militia Member of the Sultanate, serving in multiple regions. I am a practitioner of the Path of Truth, and as such bear and wield the blessings of Avesta, along with wielding a shield and a sword. I am not tactically similar to many of my practitioner colleagues. I often assume a position on the front line, as it often acts as a better position for me to block for mages and others along with getting healing to those who need it. That being said Line tactics have very few places in modern combat. It can act as a short-term cover solution and effective distraction, but a still target is a dead target in most large encounters. Mobility, Communication, and Flexibility are key in modern combat and will lead to our collective survivability.
Anyone who was with me at the Radio Tower when the separatists attempted to demolition it saw that first hand. We were effectively able to take them man to man and hold them off even though the Separatists had the overwhelming advantage. We were able to Identify the objective clearly, specifically seizing control of the bomb before they even had a chance to set it up. Then once the Objective was away we were able to divide up, making us difficult to pursue as a group, and were able to regroup. These practices work for our group, for the most part. It would seem that many of you are trained in offensive combat styles. So pursuit, breaches, and takedowns seem to be where this group shines.
That being said line tactics have a time and place, as we saw when installing the ritual device in the Cleansed Area. While the thaumaturgists were performing their ritual, we had a number of first aid trained individuals, but I was the only individual trained in the healing arts. The low supply of blood tonics, armor kits, and defensively trained individuals made it clear very quickly while we could effectively fight our way in, sustaining a fight is not in the repertoire of our group. But we cannot avoid these fights they will happen and often.
If we can get more defensively trained fighters, we would be able to do a variant of the line defense. A Sword and Shield defense, this would rely on both a shield line that can hold off an attacking force, but also an offensive flanking group to apply pressure and force the enemy to alter focus away from the line. This would also require us to be more effective about acquiring resources to sustain our line, if we continue to go into situations with only a single individual trained in healing arts we will quickly find survival to be very expensive and difficult to keep up. There are plenty of crafters of varying kinds in town, we should be able to work together to cultivate our shares.
At the end of the day, my highest objective is for us all to go home alive and in one piece. If we cannot develop more effective defensive practices, this objective will become more difficult to maintain and I do not wish to fail. Hoping that you are all well.
Dr. Osmond Sterm

Greetings,
I am curious as to how you all feel at this juncture; have you found greater tactical success? Do you believe the Expedition to be better organized now? What still needs work? The reports I receive are all well and good, but I would like to get a sense of what each of you feel the Expedition's relative strengths and weaknesses are at this juncture, that we might best know how to strengthen ourselves.
Sincerely, Mayor Benjamin Harker

I, Omnid Trega am proficient in healing with alchemical abilities and am able to split doses of pharmaceutical supplies to restore two people instead of one with minimal effort. Restorative & production training paired together
